Food Photographer in Leeds -Ice cream shots for Award success.
Phillip Shannon photography has recently completed a new range of photography for local independent food supplier in Leeds Yorkshire.
The Kulfi is a deliciously creamy, rich, exotic frozen dessert. It has its origins in Southern Asia. Its best known these days as a dessert eaten after a meal in a Indian Restaurant.
Speaking to my client it was clear that we should concentrate on a few particular varieties of his extensive range, the kulfi, similar to ice cream, but much more creamy and rich, a real treat if you've ever had it before.
A selection of his products have recently won Gold awards in the Great taste awards 2010, a real event in the progress of the business, and a testiment to the hard work put in by the owner.
Photographing food is all about telling a story, but this is true of all photography and commercial photography inparticular, but it needs to engage the viewer, to tell them about what you can and can't see, the shot should give you a visual reference of quality, taste, is it expensive for example.
Working closely with my client we hit upon a formula that would show his food product the way it was briefed, it's uses are more than a simple packshot, the product photography aspect is always in your mind whilst constructing the food and the surrounding props but we aimed to show how the ice cream has an inherent high production value and taste, the intention of the shots was to gives it a almost restaurant dessert level of view, so that people will view it as a real treat after a meal.
