I am a photographer based in Leeds West Yorkshire and have spent all my working career in this area, working in studio shooting a huge variety of subjects including food photography, still life, product, jewellery and people & also on location the length and breadth of the UK.

I have a very down to earth, hard working ethic towards my professional photography. Delivering the right photographic image that you need for your marketing campaign or advertisement whether it is company brochure, website or bill board poster is my goal.

I was recently commissioned to shoot for a local radio station based in Leeds, Radio Aire.

The shoot was to photograph all of the presenters of the stations flagship broadcast, the breakfast show, in studio in a variety of different poses, arrangements and outfits.

We had a great time in developing a fun and relaxed looking series of images that communicated all of the values that the morning show represents.

Working closely with the stations marketing manager we set about photographing the presenters in a variety of ways, as larger groups and as individuals too.

New Food Photography for Major Retail Company

I was very excited and happy to be working on a project recently for The Saucy Fish company.

This fantastic new range of products covers a variety of fish and sauce dishes.

The Food Photography was shot in studio, and working closely with the client and the food stylist we set about producing the photographs.

A selection from the food shoot can be seen in this blog and you can see the full food portfolio here.

Using a different set of props for the food shots enabled us to create a creative photography process for each dish, allowing each fish and sauce to have its own style.

From traditional fish and chips, with a modern twist using the beautiful melt in the middle fish cakes, to a New England style approach for the smoked haddock and water cress sauce shots to a oriental style with the salmon image.

Food photography is something which I have shot throughout my career, and is a lovely subject to work with.

Tablet computers showcasing creative photography

Tablet computers are quickly becoming common place.

The ipad is probably the most heavily talked about device, but many others exist from leading electronics manufacturers.

The development of such devices has seen a rise in the apps ( applications ) which previously, were mainly used on smart phones.

The photographic world has embraced this new technology and found interesting ways of using it.

Reported in the British journal of photography http://www.bjp-online.com/british-journal-of-photography/news/2112025/magazine-revenue-stream-photographers a new app called "Once" has emerged showcasing the best in creative photography portfolios.

Another interesting way in which these apps are used is into the day to day shooting process in studio.

Phase one has developed an app which allows the photographer or perhaps the client to view the shooting process whilst in the same studio on a ipad so that they can view, tag, and rate images as they are being shot.

The addition of the tablet computer to the commercial photographer is an exciting and useful tool.

Anything which helps the creative photography process can only be a positive move forward, but all of these additions to the photographic process, must never cloud your view when booking your professional photography project.

Clever gadgets and filters will only get you so far, working with a true professional photographer is the real key to the success of your commercial studio or location shoot.

Experienced professionals work within the industry everyday, and will quickly, efficiently and more importantly to the clients budget, complete the shoot in a timely fashion leaving you to sit back and know you have the hard working images you need to sell your products and business services to the wider world.
