Blog

Here you can read the most recent and hopefully interesting aspects of my commercial and advertising photography. I am a photographer based in Leeds West Yorkshire and have spent all my working career in this area, working in studio shooting a huge variety of subjects including food photography, still life, product, jewellery and people & also on location the length and breadth of the UK.

I have a very down to earth, hard working ethic towards my professional photography. Delivering the right photographic image that you need for your marketing campaign or advertisement whether it is company brochure, website or bill board poster is my goal.

What to expect on your Professional photography shoot.

If you are booking a session with a photographer then there are certain things which you would expect, and also there are certain things which will be expected of you too.

The photography shoot is definitely a two way process between the client ( that's you ) and the photographer.

Planning and preparing well, is the key to success. Most people who are used to working within this environment will use a photographic brief to communicate the ideas and plan to the photographer for the shoot well in advance of the shoot date.

If you are new to planning professional photography, whether you are based in Leeds or London the process is easily adapted to your particular needs.

1. What is it you need to photograph.
2. How will it be shot, is there a style to follow, or technical criteria to fulfill.
3. Where?, in studio or on location?
4. If in studio do the items need to be assembled, or prepared prior to the shoot.
5. If on location, does the environment need to be prepped or adapted to suit.

Once the shoot is under way, normally an approval process would need to be agreed first. Ideally the person who can make the ultimate decision to whether or not the image is correct should be on the shoot, if this is not possible then another person should be appointed in their place, or again if this is not possible someone on the end of an email who can approve. This process cuts down the need for projects to be re-staged.

Using professional photographers in Leeds and Yorkshire is a great way to get your products and services noticed by the wider world. The best way to take advantage of this time is to prepare well.

The professional photography process is very powerful and is an investment to your business. Take the time to consider the whole process and the results you will achieve will give the marketing and promotion to your business the upper hand over your competitors.

Its not just point and shoot.

As technology develops we have all grown used to having personal computers, digital cameras, and even the way in which we watch TV has been computerized with hard disk recorders and the like.

With all of this technology around, the average person these days is fairly confident with most technological processes which 15 years ago they would of never considered.

When is comes to digital photography, the advancement of compact cameras, are clearly designed to help the amateur achieve better results than they would be expected to do without the aid of automatic exposure.

It would be easy to make the assumption that a well presented digital compact camera can deliver you the same results as a experienced Commercial photographer in Leeds.

It can not.

The important thing to remember is that it is the photographer that takes the photograph not the camera.

An experienced professional, has a large skill set when approaching a commercial project, not only to they invest in professional camera equipment, but professional lighting apparatus and other kit required to complete a professional photography shoot.

Commercial photographers will look at a scene very differently to others, they will compose the scene in front of them to achieve maximum impact for the brief, if in the studio, this takes into consideration all the important facets of the product and the message which the manufacturer wants the product to communicate to the intended audience.

Location photographers often have to deal with many things beyond their control, weather conditions, the urban or rural landscape, people, buildings, and of course the changable natural lighting conditions.

Whether it is a studio or location photography project the experienced professional photographer based in Leeds or London will be able to harness all of the skills they possess to create high quality, and effective photographic results.

So when you are next planning the marketing for your business, the use of a professional photographer must always be high on your list.
